Recently as I was beginning my devotional time with Handbook to Prayer (I wrote a little about this helpful book here.), I was astonished to read these two passages:
The Son of Man will come with the clouds of heaven. In the presence of the Ancient of Days, He will be given dominion and glory and a kingdom, so that all peoples, nations, and men of every language will worship Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will never be destroyed. (Daniel 7:13-14)
Jesus is my Lord and my God. (John 20:28)
It’s easy to rush through passages like that, checking them off my to-do list. But as I considered that the Son of Man who has dominion over all is my Lord and my God. I was astonished.
Grace. It’s all grace. And I’m amazed that He has already drawn me to worship Him now, even before His coming again.
This I know: He has been good to me, and I don’t deserve it.
