vows

I’ve had a few requests to post our vows here because not everyone at the wedding could hear them.

My Vows

To Paul:

I love you, and I respect you. I trust you and will submit to you as the Church is commanded to submit to Christ.

You are, and always will be, the priority in my life.

I will love you in sickness and in health, in plenty and in want, and on grouchy days and happy ones.

I will never leave you.

Know that I am your biggest cheerleader and will support you and encourage you.

I will make a home for you. My goal is to live out Martin Luther’s words: “Let the wife make the husband glad to come home…”

I will be quick to confess my sins against you and will ask forgiveness of you and the Lord.

I will pray for our marriage and for you, thanking God and seeking His guidance.

Through prayer, the counsel of you and other godly people, and the study of God’s Word, I will continually seek to grow in the Lord and be a better wife.

Mark and Stephen and your extended family are now part of my family.

You can trust me. I will be loyal to you and will seek to honor you in all I do and say.

To Caroline, Will, and Anna:

I love the three of you more than words can express. Will and Caroline, I’m so grateful to be your mother. Anna, I’m so thankful you’re now in our family. God has blessed me richly. Thank you for welcoming Paul into our family.

To Mark and Stephen:

I dearly love your father, and I promise to love both of you as my own.

Paul’s Vows

To Me:

I’ve never fully understood the significance and beauty regarding the meeting of God’s people as the Bride, and Christ the Bridegroom until this very moment.

I love you and will love you as our Savior loves His Church.

When it’s good or not-so-good; whether we have much or little; if you have cruddy days; feel a little grouchy; or wish I was on another planet at the moment, I will always love you.

You are, and always will be, the priority in my life.

I will never leave you and that is an absolute.

Know that you are safe with me and I am always your advocate.

In my eyes, you will always be the most beautiful woman on this planet (another absolute) and I’m going to keep flirting with you just like always (probably more).

When I mess up, I will confess my shortcomings and ask forgiveness to you and the Lord.

I will always lift our marriage up in prayer, thanking God for it and for you.

Through prayer, the counsel of other Godly people and study, I will continually seek to grow in The Lord and be a better husband.

Caroline, Will, Anna and your extended family are now part of my family.

You can trust me; and my decisions will first and foremost always be considerate of your feelings, concerns and best interest.

To Mark and Stephen:

Thank you for accepting Anne into our family. I love you both “way too much” and am blessed, thankful and proud to be your father.
No matter where life may take all of us, I am here for you.

To Caroline, Will and Anna:

I love your Mom more than you will ever know. Thank you for accepting me into your family. My love for my children is now also yours.

To my mom and dad:

Take rest and comfort in knowing that your daughter is safe with me and will be cared for with the utmost love. This is an absolute
