#bujo update

july-bujoAs I shared last month, I’m using a bullet journal to get myself organized. And after a month of using it faithfully, I have to say that it’s working. I’ve been better prepared and am checking off more to-dos these days, although some of those keep migrating to another day (another month!) as I procrastinate for various reasons. But the procrastination is right there in front of my face each day, and that’s a step in the right direction. Right?

Beyond my daily calendar, I’m using my journal to write out thoughts and quotes from my study of Proverbs, for taking sermon notes, and for keeping lists of what I’m reading and what I want to read. I’m jotting down quotes that are meaningful to me, and keeping lists of birthday cards and gifts I need to purchase.

The keys for me are having a simple layout and keeping the journal handy throughout the day. I keep it open on my desk at work, and I have it with me in my knitting bag or on my bedside table when I’m at home. It also fits into my purse, so I have it on the go. I’m still a big fan of the Leuchtturm1917, and I prefer it to the various Moleskine notebooks I’ve used.

So far, so good.

  1. Anne, thanks for sharing the info about bullet journaling. I saw the video linked from your blog and it looks complicated. But then I am the post-it queen. Would you share more about your journal? For instance–quotes, sermons, books you want to read, etc. How you incorporate these things into the journal.

    • Mine isn’t nearly as complicated as some I’ve seen. I have a future log at the beginning that covers June through December, with important dates on that. Then I start with my monthly/weekly spreads for each month. I use a two-page spread per week. I’ve set aside a few pages for quotes I want to remember, a want to read list, etc. I’ve got a section for sermon notes, and a few other lists. What I like is thinking through a month at a time – what birthday cards/gifts do I need to get and when? What appointments do I have? And I can jot down thoughts, goals, etc.

so what do you think?
