~ It really rubs me the wrong way when I hear the word ‘gift’ used as a verb. What’s wrong with ‘give’?

~ I’m listening to rain falling, and it’s a sweet, sweet sound.

~ I’m listening to my husband snoring, and while it’s not a sweet sound, he’s a sweet man, and I’m glad he’s mine.

~ 2016 has whizzed by faster than any year I can remember, and it’s also been one of the weirdest.

~ I’m in a bit of a reading rut, but that’s okay because I’m on a knitting binge. If I could just figure out how to do both at the same time, I’d be in hobby heaven.

~ I rarely use my laptop anymore except to blog. I love my iPad. So this seems like an awesome idea.

~ Are any of you watching This Is Us? I’m really enjoying it. It’s filling the Parenthood void in my life.

Gotta get back to my knitting!

what’s going on

The blog has been quiet for several reasons these days:

~ I was away all week for work, adding Indiana to the states-I’ve-visited list. Here’s a sunrise in Muncie:

~ I’ve been doing the “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything” thing. I’ve been discouraged by politics and Auburn football and current events and have tried to avoid ranting about ungrateful, cowardly, spoiled college students.

~ Much of my downtime has been spent knitting or surfing Ravelry. I’ve got four works-in-progress at the moment. Here’s one of them:

~ Even though I compose blog posts in my head on my commute or in the shower or as I toss and turn at 2 a.m., I haven’t felt like sitting down to my laptop and actually typing them up. Just call me lazy.

~ I indulged in some Netflix binging on Call the Midwife recently. Now I’m all caught up. Any recommendations for another series I can watch while knitting?

I hope to get back in the blogging groove, but I’m not making any promises. Thanks for sticking around.

~ Song lyrics with bad grammar are as cringe-worthy as nails on a chalkboard to me.

It’s just another reason why it always comes back to you and I…” That “I” makes me wince every single time.

~ In my opinion, a Prius is not so much a car as it is a device on which to display Obama and/or Hillary bumper stickers. Apparently I’m not alone. (Ha!)

lacroix~ LaCroix Cerise Limon is my favorite beverage these days.

~ A quick glance at the headlines these days is all I need to cry out for Jesus to return. This world is seriously messed up.

~ The phrase “Sell crazy somewhere else. We’re all stocked up here,” comes to mind.

~ I need a new series to binge-watch on Netflix. I just finished Damages. Any suggestions?

~ My sweet husband sent flowers to me at work today:

~ The trains are out of control in Thomasville. It’s especially wonderful when they come to a complete stop on a major road right at 5 pm when I’m trying to get home.

It’s been a week, folks. And, yes, I know it’s only Thursday.

~ No television series should go longer than 5 seasons. Inevitably, characters do things totally out of character, writers and producers indulge in silliness, and there are bizarre dream sequences and awkward musicals.

~ Since Paul gave me a FitBit for Christmas, I’ve begun thinking in steps and miles. Since I got it set up Christmas evening, I’ve walked more than a marathon in the course of my daily routine. I’m strangely motivated by this:

~ I’ve been intentionally reading more this new year, and I’m truly enjoying it. I recently finished About A Boy. It was an easy, amusing, yet serious read. I had to smile when I got to these lines. If you’re a Dennis Prager fan, you’ll understand:

~ I had to show my ID recently to purchase cold/sinus medicine. I guess they knew that you needed to be a certain age in order to handle the sharp implement necessary to open the little pill packs. (And, hey, how is it not racist to require an ID to purchase medicine? That’s the argument for no ID for voting, isn’t it? Who are all the haters who want minorities to go without Mucinex?)

~ If our government is going to continue to be involved in the minutiae of our lives, I have another suggestion for a law: Ban radio commercials that have sirens in them. It drives me crazy to have to check my mirrors and wonder if an ambulance or fire truck is in my path.

~ Our recent southwest Georgia weather reminds me of Belgium — wet, cold, and gray. I would love to see some sunshine.

~ I love, love, love the Anhaica bucket bag I received for Christmas. It’s perfect for toting my current knitting project.

Happy Thursday, y’all!
